Steve and I recently attended the 140 conference in New York. The 140 represents the 140 characters of a Twitter message. The conference was founded and is curated by Jeff Pulver at various locations around the world. During the two day conference, more than 100 people told their story in the ten minutes they were allotted.
We met some people we are friends with on Twitter and we got to meet some new people. We met a new person who has had a lasting effect on me. His name is Revolution MacInnes. When Mark Horvath introduced me to this giant of a man, I said hello, how are you. He looked me in the eye, smiled broadly and said: “ I AM AMAZING!” He said it with such confidence, I knew he was amazing. He went on to say he used to be homeless, but now he is not. He told us of the amazing things he did that day. Everything he said made me realize he was amazing.
Then he said ‘YOU ARE AMAZING!” I can’t remember all the exact words, but the point was well made. Just think about it. You are amazing. You can walk. You can talk. You can smile. You can breathe.
During the last few days, I have seen people on television battling the heat who are not able to walk, or talk or smile or breathe on their own. If you can move, just think how amazing you are.
Realizing that I AM AMAZING, it is easy to see how amazing other people are. I went to a small dress shop I like. The nice sales lady helped me and we chatted back and forth as I picked things from the sale rack. As she finished bagging my purchase I thanked her and told her she was AMAZING. She smiled from head to toe and told me she felt AMAZING because she was able to help people.
YOU ARE AMAZING! Look around and see all the amazing things in your world.
