Someone writes what you read, be it a magazine, a book, a blog, a letter, a card, or any form of written communication. I am endeavoring to be an interesting writer.
Learning this craft is interesting, challenging and yes, hard work. I am enrolled in Chris Brogan’s Blog Topics The Master Class. Chris is my son, but that doesn’t give me a free pass. If anything, it makes me more committed to toe the line, pass in my homework on time and complete all my assignments.
I was talking with a friend about the class. I told her about the private Face Book group we have to do assignments, how we are learning to do magazine writing, ebook writing, how to do interviews, special interviews Chris does just for the class, how the assigned reading for the class was broadening my world of understanding and how much I am enjoying the interaction with the other members of the group. She was somewhat let down. She thought the class was only about writing a better blog. Poor advertising she said. Chris should let the whole world know of the treasure he is sharing. I will pass that information on to Chris, but now back to me and my quest.
You could say I have taken Steven Pressfield’s advice in Turning Pro to heart. I am committed to this course. Yesterday I even bypassed the pleasure of morning Twitter time with friends to complete Charles Duhigg’s fascinating book The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
One assignment was to review what we had written recently. MomPopPow.com has no focus at this time. It is a potpourri of thoughts. Some people say it has no purpose being on the web. Who knows, maybe the best is yet to come.
