Yesterday we saw Toruk – The First Flight inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar. It was another amazing Cirque du Soleil production. This one was different in that the show was only in Las Vegas for five days. Although we bought our tickets at the last minute, we didn’t miss it.
To read the plot of the story and know where the group will be preforming when, you can click this link to my favorite reference Wikipedia. Learn all about their winged enemy, Toruk, shown above.
This show was different in that it invited the audience to use their cell phones to interact with the show. Non-flash pictures were also allowed.
Fifteen minutes before the show, the audience could interact with the fireflies on the stage and the fireflies on their cell phone screen. I thought this was a clever idea to keep people busy before the show. The picture above is from the ending of the show where the fire flies join the grand finale.
Another brilliant part of the show was the use of imagery. Using color and lighting, I would swear that water was flowing, but it really wasn’t. The production is outstanding. It is fast paced and beautifully colored.
All of the Cirque du Soleil productions enhance my mind as I wonder how they make the story larger than life. It is a wonderful experience.
I hope you have the opportunity to see Toruk.
