How Many People Does It Take For You To Stand Alone

We moved to Las Vegas because I am allergic to the trees and shrubs around the beautiful home we built in Fremont, NH. The fact that Steve is a professional poker dealer is another plus for choosing the location.

We made this life changing decision on February 22, 2012. Nearly everyone we encountered told us to “go for it.” Many people told us of their personal regrets and wished us well with even more words of encouragement.

Jay and Monika McGillicuddy are the great real estate agents who helped sell our house. They became friends in the process.

Our friends in real life and on line cheered us on all the way to our final destination in Las Vegas. Our drive across America was enhanced by the many tweets, FB and Google+ comments we shared with folks along the way. We even got to meet online people like Todd and Sharon Jordan, Miss Dazey and Mr. Bruce and Becky McCray.

Before coming to live in Las Vegas, we knew Carolyn Stephens on Twitter, Chris and John Hawkins on Twitter and a casual meeting through our son Chris Brogan, and Steve knew Julie Campbell on Twitter.

The Twitter Gods of good fortune blessed us when Steve received a tweet one day from @Vegashomepro “When you need a realtor, give me a call.”

Debbie Drummond is @Vegashomepro. She and Monika McGillicuddy use social media the same way. They promote the community. They provide great videos about the area. They seldom promote a particular property. They are good people.

I contacted Debbie Drummond. She started sending me a daily listing of properties in the area so I would get a feel of what was available. When I had questions, she and I exchanged emails. She knows her stuff.

Her partner, Michael Petit, is as dedicated to Las Vegas as she is. They are good people. Our new home in Las Vegas is different than any we have owned before. We need a pool person. We need solar shades for the windows, We need lots of stuff. That is not part of the sale, but Michael Petit is connecting us with the people who can supply us with these services. That is way above and beyond the scope of his job description. Maybe he does this for everyone or he just knows how very much we appreciate his kindness.

Look at all these links. These are just a few of the great people who helped us move to Las Vegas. We thank you all sincerely.

It takes a village, a former First Lady once wrote. Happy you’ve completed phase 1 of the long journey. Love you and Dad.

    Can wait to visit! :)

    • dianebrogan

We can’t wait to have you visit. You and the family are welcome any time. Please make us part of your vacation plans.

  • Whitney

I hope it’s wonderful and lives up to and beyond all your expectations. The “boys” are very happy here, and a constant source of amusement. I’m even getting used to becoming a “kitty shelf” when I go to bed. Thank you for letting us adopt them :)

    • dianebrogan

Whitney, you are a treasure. You give so much to your friends and to the community at large. Steve and I will be eternally grateful to you and your family for adopting Spade and Diamond. We will love those cats forever, even if we can’t live with them because of my allergies.
Thank you for giving “the boys” a good home. Thank you for sending us updates of their antics. A special thank you for sending us pictures. They will forever be in our hearts.
We are blessed to know you and call you friend. Thank you for all you do.

Your post is reminder that life and business is all about relationships. And going the extra mile for people, like the folks you mention in your post, with no expectation of anything in return helps deepen those relationships. Enjoy this special time and great adventure.

Steve and I are truly blessed to know so many wonderful people.

Jay and I were deeply honored to be a part of your Life Change and so happy that it all worked out for both of you. Debbie is awesome and we can not wait to come visit you and Steve in Vegas and meet her too!

Monika, you and Jay are the best. There is no question in our mind that our house sold so well because of your fine work. We appreciate all that you did and that we became friends in the process.
We look forward to your visit to Las Vegas. You will enjoy meeting Debbie Drummond and her partner Michael Petit. They are as easy to talk with as you and Jay.
Steve and I consider ourselves blessed to know such exceptional realtors, who are now friends, on both sides of the deal. Life is good.

I am so excited that you are there safe and sound. I have watched your adventure with such admiration. I remember the very first time you told me you were going to do this big move and then listening to you talk about it at SOBCon I realized how amazing you both truly are. You have such a love for life and new opportunities. Beyond that you are a true role model for tirelessly recognizing the good in others Diane. I wish you and Steve all the best as you settle in to your new home and community. I can’t wait till I can hop on a weekend flight and come for a visit :)

Jane, you bring back memories. When we attended SOBCon, Las Vegas was a plan we hoped to make happen. The people at SOBCon gave us so much wonderful positive support and encouragement, it became the wind beneath our wings. We took our plan to the next step and put the house on the market. After that everything fell in place and here we are.
We have met wonderful people in Las Vegas who make us feel welcome. The neighbors have greeted us warmly. The house is slowly shaping up to welcome visitors. It is all good.
We look forward to your visit. Just think, next year at SOBCon, we can tell the story of how we did it. Life is good :)

What a great example of the power of surrounding yourself with “can do” people and the power of putting our ideas and dreams in front of those people.

        • http://www.boydjane.ca/ Jane Boyd

SOBCon is full of the people who won’t let you fail or as Liz Strauss says – Lifelong friends. Really there is nothing better in this world. Nothing at all.

      • http://www.boydjane.ca/ Jane Boyd

And yet another amazing SOBCon story :) So many truly awesome beginnings grow out of the support and encouragement that comes from the SOBCon community. We both know that first hand. Every single day I am thankful for what it has brought to my world – the people, the love, the friendships, the ideas and the business opportunities.

Las Vegas is lucky to have you and Steve there! I feel blessed to wake up with you in my time zone now!
