This is a little story about what you did and may not even know how your actions affected another person. When you take a moment to wish someone a Happy Birthday, you are adding joy to their special day. Birthdays are a big deal because we have made them so. Ever since we were children most of us have had some type of recognition on our birthday. Most of us are programmed to expect kind words and acts of kindness on our birthday. Parties can be a bit of a problem when the family is far away, but a phone call works wonders. Cards with envelopes that come in the mail are also a great treat.
Take a moment to send a greeting. It means a great deal to the person receiving the greeting. In today’s wonderful world where nearly everyone has cell phones, we have Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Facetime, email and even the telephone to send a personal greeting to someone having a birthday. After I posted a Happy Birthday message for Steve on Saturday, the greetings started pouring in. It was nice to hear from people we haven’t touched base with in a while. After all, everyone is busy.
On Saturday, June 3, 1947, Stephen Brogan was born to Edward and Gabrielle Brogan. He was their first child and became big brother to James Brogan who came along three years later. A lot has happened in the last 70 years. There were school events, graduations, weddings, births, deaths and lots of parties. The exciting part is that Steve and I are still here enjoying life. Many people have not reached the awesome age of 70. It is a blessing to get to this spot in life and an even greater accomplishment to be healthy and happy at this age.
I hope you have a Happy Birthday on your special day.
