Steve and I live in the country. There are no street lights. Some nights it is blacker than the ace of spades, as the saying goes. On those nights, one would need light to navigate in the darkness. Other nights, when the moon is full, there is just enough light to allow one a careful moonlight walk. We don’t have sidewalks, so one always has to be careful when walking at night.
Last night, while driving home from a fun time with friends, we enjoyed a Vincent van Gogh “Starry Night” experience. The sky was a brilliant navy blue and the stars shown like diamonds. The breadth and width of the vista was awesome.
Wow! I just realized the blue I am trying to describe was one of my favorite colors when I was painting regularly. That could be why it touches my soul when I see it in the early dawn pictures that Liz Strauss (@LizStruass) provides for us sun worshipers of the Chicago harbor.
The intention of the blog post was to share with you the beauty of the sky of last night as “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” by the Beatles played in the back of my mind. Instead of just sharing, it became a self discovery piece. Life is good.
