It’s Just My Nature – A Book Review

I just finished Carol Tuttle’s book, IT’S JUST MY NATURE – A Guide To Knowing And Living Your True Nature. I am not really sure how I learned about Carol Tuttle, I think I followed a link on Twitter. The important part of the story is that I found her. This book is amazing. It has great information and lots of interesting stories to reinforce the teachings.

The book explains the four energy types. Each of us has one dominant energy type with a secondary type. Understanding our own energy type and the energy type of others we interact with, makes life easier to understand and easier to live. The four energy types are:

  • Nitrogen/Air           Type 1         Ideas
  • Oxygen/Water        Type 2         Details
  • Hydrogen/Fire        Type 3         Action
  • Carbon/Earth          Type 4         Perfecting

How this knowledge all comes together is fascinating. More than that, there are free webinars and tons of free information at TheCarolBlog.com, MyEnergyProfile.com, and DressingYourTruth.com.

In addition to talking about energy types, Carol Tuttle talks about clothing, hair style and how each of us is a gift. The book is interesting and inspirational, but more than that, it is a passport to a better way of life. Introduce yourself to Carol Tuttle and experience a new way to live your life.

Poker and the Superbowl

NEW ENGLAND Patriots Wallpaper

NEW ENGLAND Patriots Wallpaper (Photo credit: Axel.Foley)

Sunday was a big day for Steve and me. In the afternoon we played two poker tournaments. Although many people are involved in the game, each player is a single player and only responsible for themselves. When I make a mistake, it is my fault. I grin and bear it and then move on. Sunday I busted out of the first tournament because I didn’t get the cards. I busted out of the second tournament because I misread a fellow player and I was chasing an Ace high straight. I played both games to the best of my ability and had a good time. I rehashed the game in my brain and made plans to do better the next time. Thankfully, no one pointed out my errors. I already knew where I had gone wrong.

Like most people who live in the Boston area, Steve and I are Patriots fans. We were excited that once again the Patriots had made it to the Superbowl. Yay for the home team. Steve and I watch the Superbowl at our house alone with just the two of us. We do not attend parties and we no longer give them. The game gets our full attention. We also do not swear and yell at the TV.

The game started with Tom Brady of the Patriots getting rushed. He threw the ball wrong. The other team was awarded two points. Steve explained the play to me, but I really did not understand. By the end of the first quarter, things looked pretty bleak for the Patriots. Then there was a big turn around. The Patriots were leading. The Patriots may win the game.

Keep in mind that Steve and I watch the Patriots regularly. We see Tom Brady throw perfect passes. We see various receivers make perfect catches – sometimes nearly impossible catches. We know how the Patriots work as a team, often with machine like perfection. Sunday at the Superbowl, things were different. As we watched, I realized most of the camera views are from above the players. It gives the viewer a superior view. This elevated position allows one to see the location of the other players from several angles. It is easy to scream at the TV and tell the player what to do or what he should have done. Several times the ball went through open hands that failed to close over the ball and make the catch. What happened?

A couple of times the camera view was at ground level. Seeing all of those very large men rushing across the field was terrifying. For a split second I thought how it must feel to be in the receiving position and miss the catch. I am sure the player does not need to be told he could have made a better play.

Football is a TEAM sport. Football is a game. One team loses and one team wins. The sad part of the story is that not everyone accepts the fact that one team has to lose. Not everyone practices good sportsmanship. In the Boston area, several NY Giants fans were not treated properly and that is sad.

Let us remember to “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” Congratulations NY Giants.

I Am Concerned About The Poor

“I’m not concerned about the very poor.” said Mitt Romney in a recent speech. Those words disgusted me when I first heard them and then the more I thought, the more encompassing those words became. Who is poor?

For most of us, there has probably been a time in our lives when we felt poor. The degree of poor may vary. The reality of poor may vary. The point is, most of us do not have unlimited wealth. Having experienced feelings of want enables us to feel compassion for those in need.

The full statement is “I’m not concerned about the very poor, they have a safety net.” said Mitt Romney. I spoke at the television as if Romney was there himself. Tell that to Mark Horvath of Invisible People when he is trying to get help for a homeless family. Keep in mind that many people were made homeless by greedy banks and unfair (perhaps even illegal) mortgage practices. Government programs are lacking in their ability to help everyone in need.

We recently reviewed the book Toys by James Patterson and Neil McMahon. It is set in 2061. The ruling class are called Elites. Their bodies have been enhanced with the latest technology to make them stronger with extra built in intelligence. They never forget a name or the history of a person. This information is supplied by their built in facial recognition software and computer database. The Elites job is to wipe out those lowly humans who are poor and need government services. This book may be science fiction today, but Romney sounds like an Elite to me.

Sledding on a little bit of snow

Snow can be a magical substance when children are around. When Violette and Harold came to visit, they laughed, they played, Mom played safety, we watched and everyone had a good time. We shot alot of film, but when editing, we realized much of it looked the same. We give you a flavor of the day in the short video below.

How much snow does it take to have fun sledding? As you can see in this video, not much, especially if you slide like a penguin.
